Our next installment of the London Insiders series tackles the housing crisis.

Reza Merchant created The Collective to provide young professionals with affordable, stylish and accommodating housing. London has always been expensive, but The Collective is aiding young professionals in securing stress free tenancies in some of the most sought out postcodes in London. The LDN team was lucky enough to talk to Reza about his brainchild.

What is The Collective?

The Collective is a new kind of property company. As the UK’s first and the world’s largest co-living provider, we create innovative living and working spaces for the creative and ambitious.

The housing crisis is a hot topic at the moment, how does the Collective help young people overcome the crisis?

With our new co-living concept we're providing an alternative living solution to young professionals in London who are otherwise forced to rent substandard accommodation, often in illegally converted HMOs with difficult landlords. We're delivering a product which caters to young Londoners changing lifestyle trends, focusing on community, convenience and quality. We aim to provide them with the best value for money.

If you could only venture in one borough of London for the rest of your life, which one would it be?

Camden - I live and work here at the moment, and there's lots of great places to play as well!


Do you have a venue or place in London you visit frequently?
POP Brixton-An amazing variety of great quality food, a vibrant atmosphere, an incredibly exciting and varied events programme, and above all knowing that every penny spent there is supporting independent and ambitious entrepreneurs that deeply care about building successful and innovative businesses-what more could you ask for..?!

Any tips for new Londoners?

Go to events and meet-ups and make an effort to meet new people and build relationships - you need to put yourself out there in order to make the most of London life.
