Project Morrinho
The world has gone crazy for Rio since the Olympics began last week. Want to learn more about the real Rio? Then this installation is a must visit!
Over the next two months the Horniman Museum will present a special project focusing life in Brazil. Project Morrinho is a social and cultural project from the Laranjeiras neighbourhood of Rio de Janeiro, where local youths built intricate models of the areas (favelas) they grew up in.
As part of the museum's summer programme dedicated to Brazil, the museum's garden will host a model created by the project.
This project has been brought to life by artists Raniere Dias and Cirlan Souza de Oliveira in partnership with the following groups; Barry House, Carshalton College, Horniman Youth Panel, Day Services at PLUS, Rewrite Creative ESOL and volunteers, staff members and members of the public.
