Polly Nor: Exploring Female Sexuality Through Illustrative Art

North London based illustrative artist Polly Nor offers a modern day prism through which she explores womanhood and female sexuality.

Departing from the objectification of the female form that is commonplace in the public eye, Polly Nor subverts this image and provides a kooky examination of what it is to be a woman in the twenty first century.

We Are In Luv And Live Very Fabulous Lifestyles

Her satirical illustrations are imbued with statement’s and feminism, one image depicts a girl taking a selfie in her mirror whilst a demon clutches her from behind, reflecting the darker imprint ex lovers can leave on your self image. Nor’s illustrations are indicative of the narcissism underlining the rise of the Instagram generation, where selfies obscure insecurities and the pressure to be perfect prevails. Quoted in Dazed magazine, Nor postulates “I am questioning the ubiquitous male vision (of women),” providing instead an “alternative view on sexuality, relationships and emotions from a modern-day female perspective.”
