Five things you didn't know about Lovebox
Lovebox kicks off this Friday, this year headliners include Major Lazer, LCD Soundsystem, Jungle, Stormzy, Chronixx and more. ThisisLDN team has read up on the history of this famous festival and its humble beginnings.
1. Groove Armada began Lovebox as a resident club night at London venue 93 Feet East in 2002.
2. The first official Lovebox occurred in 2003. British electronic music duo Groove Armada hosted the one-day event on Clapham Common. Tickets for the event sold out within two days.
3. In 2005, Lovebox moved to Victoria Park in Tower Hamlets. The festival expanded to two days and was co-headlined by Groove Armada and Mylo.
4. In 2010, the festival had been expanded to a three-day event, however in 2014, Lovebox returned to its original two day format.
5. Lovebox launched After Dark, in 2014. The series of parties are held after both the Friday and Saturday nights of the festival across a selection of East London club spaces.
